I swear, working at the Uniting Church Op Shop is the best job I’ve ever had in my life. It’s all feel-good: you’re happy for customers when they find bargains, you’re part of an organisation which enables things to be used again. It’s not work where you have to be competitive, assertive or even particularly intelligent. Just be sensible, take a bit of initiative and be kind. I love it.
You find interesting things, too. Maybe because I’m a senior now and just have more time, items catch my eye that aren’t 100% practical, or even useful. Just nice.
Today, I saw an old, Italian-made ceramic moka pot. I fell in love with it. There was a broken bit on the inside lip, but the lid still covered it, and it is definitely useable. Anyway, even if no-one uses it, who cares? It’s gorgeous!

My son Miles used a moka to make his morning expresso. It was mine, but then we got an induction stove top and I couldn’t use it. He fancied it, and used it at his place. Right now he’s in Europe, and his stuff is stored with me. I showed him and he liked it. Now it’s sitting next to his one in my kitchen.

I’m so pleased ☺️!!!
I haven’t stained the handles on my copper pourer yet. Got to get the linseed oil out of my basement. I think that should be alright. Will have to read up a bit first.
