Roaring Lion recently performed at the premiere of Paramount’s ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ movie, in Queensland.

Here we are on the red carpet beforehand. It was a really fun time and we were so honoured to be sought out.

The reggae bubble responsibility has come to me now, and I’m stoked to have a chance to do something so core to the music. I didn’t know anything about it before joining the band, so it’s all upwards learning from here.

I’ll write about my boards set up soon. At the moment I keep swapping the boards! One’s a synth (Korg Kross 2 61-key) and the other a stage organ (Yamaha YC61).

I dedicated the organ to playing bubble and skank by splitting the board and using drawbars for the left side (bubble) and piano for the right (skank). That’s been the lower board. The upper board was all the accents on synth — horns, strings, clavinet, sax, flute, synth, epiano etc.

But I really want to play the organ more and learn how to play and pull those drawbars up and down, and do the palm glissando when I solo! I do it at home, it’s easy enough to do, but doesn’t fit with what I’m playing! Grr.

There’s are Sinewheel organ patches on the Korg which are good for bubbling. So maybe I will be able to swap. It’s also WAY easier to adjust and save patch sound levels on the YC, and that’s very helpful.

Will report on all that later, then.
