It really is my pleasure to tell you about the Cannon Creek Country Band (CCCB).
We’re all Kooralbyn locals, and we’ll be playing country rock and blues for our debut gig at The Pavilion Tavern, Kooralbyn on Sunday August 18, from 1pm to 4pm.
Brought together by Mano (of Mano’s The Kooralbyn General Store and servo), the band members are:
- Ian (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, sax)
- Dave (lead vocals, bass)
- Greg (lead guitar, backing vocals)
- Mano (drums, backing vocals)
- Joanna (keys, backing vocals)
Here is our Facebook event page. Thank you Karen 😁
Honestly, this is just about the best thing that could happen to me in Kooralbyn. These guys have been so nice.
Although it must be said that I first rocked up with my melodica, and they put up with that for about three weeks. Then Dave brought his keyboard and pleaded with me to consider playing that instead 😐.
But playing a keyboard was so fun I ended up buying my own, a Korg Kross 2, which is insanely light (3kg) and it sounds fab! I can’t believe I can just sling it on my shoulder and go to rehearsal. It’s a dream.
So thank you for that, Dave.
I haven’t completely given up on the melodica. I’m sure they’ll let it in a song or two, somewhere…
I so look forward to rehearsal at the end of the week, and these guys really bring home to me the value of teaching music.
I don’t teach my students to play to become concert pianists. I teach them to read music and play piano so that they can experience the joy of creating music.
It’s something you do. Not something you buy. Not something you watch. You do it, and there’s usually a bit of pain involved, but that makes it all the more sweet when you get it right.
These guys have done it all their lives, and it’s still making them happy.
And we’re going to be even happier in a few weeks! See you at The Pav on Sunday August 18. Hope you can make it!
