Joanna Beckton has an eye for detail and a taste for the aesthetic. She is the owner of Savoy Truffle, a furniture company making handmade furniture to custom, here in Queensland.
I know Joanna because she and her two daughters are my piano students. She is a hardworking entrepreneur, and a hands-on mother. I really take my hat off to her.
Originally from the UK, Joanna’s passion for design began by selling restored vintage furniture in Oxfordshire.
Later, her love of beautiful decor and furnishings led her to work at the West Wycombe Park Estate, an English tourist attraction described as “one of the most theatrical and Italianate mid-18th century buildings in England”.
In Australia, motherhood led Joanna to run her own business from home. Savoy Truffle was born and this was the way Joanna kept her daughters close while continuing to tap into her instinct to create beautiful things.
[Incidentally, Kooralbyn is not short on entrepreneurial small business owners. Valley Kitchen owners Andy and Toni Cooper are expanding their successful formula to Beaudesert, and you can read about them doing that here.]
Joanna chooses items that complement her Savoy Truffle brand. So luckily for us Kooralbyn residents, searching for a special gift or an eye-catching trinket needn’t involve a long drive. A visit to Savoy Truffle in Valley Kitchen just might provide the answer for you!
During piano lessons, I’m definitely the boss 😊. But when it comes to furniture and filling a home with warmth and artistry, Joanna Beckton calls all the shots. I will definitely seek her advice when I’m ready to buy picture frames for art in my music room.
