My cousins Alex and Nita organised a birthday lunch at Midnight Blue Italian restaurant for Nita’s mother’s Angelina, who has just turned 93!
Alex asked if I knew Dean Martin’s That’s Amore, so I brought my melodica and played it, along with Santa Lucia and Come Back To Sorrento. Right before they brought in the cake!
Italian songs, great food and charming company. Thank you Alex, Nita and Angelina, for a delightful afternoon and an excuse to play my melodica.
[Incidentally, I saw an excellent interview with Jon Batiste. He was talking about his melodica, and he played it without using a mouthpiece! That video is here. I tried that today, and it feels so relaxed! I just have to make sure air isn’t escaping from the sides of my mouth. I might stick with that for a while.]
