[Posting clips of my students performing lets them know I’m proud of them. Learning music – like learning most things – is a series of little steps, every step significant, and hopefully taken with a sense of pleasure and adventure.]
Tian started piano lessons with me three weeks ago. He’s turned 5 and is in Prep. He hops up on the piano stool and his little fingers fly across the piano, impersonating the pianist he could definitely be one day. This is a learning game from the lesson book “My First Piano Adventure” Nancy and Randall Faber which shows the position of white notes in relation to the groups of 2 and 3 black notes. Then I play a song and Tian starts to look for the notes.
Below, Kristine is playing Midnight Ride from “Accelerated Piano Adventures for the Older Beginner” Nancy and Randall Faber. She’s playing with a much softer touch these days and I’m very pleased with her progress.
Here’s the same piece of music played by Megan, and I’m playing the duet part. Megan has quite a whimsical approach to her piano lessons, so when she said, “I like Midnight Ride, let’s play it.” I recorded it on my phone.
How about that Megan? You just happened to have learned how to play piano music 🙂
Well done kids, see you later this week!
